Trees should be at the curb Friday evening, Jan. 10
Ashland.news staff report
Ashland Scout Troop 112’s 39th annual Christmas Tree-Cycling Day is Saturday, Jan. 11. Residents of Ashland should remove all decorations from their tree and place it at the curb in front of their house by Friday evening, Jan. 10.
Troop 112 and its charter organization, the Ashland Lions Club, as well as the Ashland Kiwanis Club, will collect the trees, which will be chipped by the Ashland Parks Department crew and used as mulch in Ashland city parks.
Donations for this service will be accepted for use to help send scouts to summer camp. Scouts will leave an envelope, or you can use the form on their website (troop112.com/tree-recycle-donation/ ) to make a donation.
The tree recycling project benefits the citizens of Ashland, the Scouts of Troop 112 and the environment, according to the event announcement. The scouts are able to perform a service and the community is invited to support the scouts. Additionally, turning thousands of trees into mulch enhances parks while sparing landfills.
