Large response brings quick containment

A grass fire off Eagle Mill Road was quickly contained Saturday afternoon, according to reports from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and radio scanner reports, which said it was lined and extinguished about 3 p.m.

Firefighters from the city of Ashland, Jackson County Fire District No. 5, Medford and ODF Southwest Oregon District responded, as did Ashland police.

Sheriff’s deputies made door-to-door notifications nearby as a precaution. No evacuations were ordered.

Information about the cause and size was not immediately available.
