Ashland Parks and Recreation Commissioners will consider prioritizing portions of the Lithia Park Master Plan during an evening study session on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
Formally adopted during the Oct. 4 APRC business meeting, the Lithia Park Masterplan identifies 37 recommendations for the park’s future. These recommendations have yet to be prioritized by commissioners for project planning purposes, according to meeting materials.
The recommendations include wildfire mitigation, maintenance concerns, issues related to dogs, flood plain connection, road design, acquiring adjacent property to enhance mountain bike access and converting existing Park’s offices inside Lithia Park to a “community house,” according to a list provided with meeting materials. The scores included with the list indicate staff time invested in assisting with the prioritization of the list.
“To organize the recommendations by priority and plan projects to implement these recommendations staff has utilized the capital improvement plan scoring rubric. Staff has scored the recommendations (attached) and identified ten projects that are capital or operational to begin implementing the recommendations,” the staff report says.
In other parks and recreation business Wednesday, commissioners will also review a set of bylaws for the Trails Advisory Committee. The advisory committee was formed at the Sept. 11 business meeting while policies for the committee were discussed during the Oct. 2 study session and the formalities of the membership make-up, rules, purpose and other details will be reviewed during the Wednesday meeting with intent to formally adopt the draft bylaws at the Nov. 13 business meeting, according to meeting materials.
The meeting will be held electronically via Zoom Webinar at 6 p.m. Registration is required to view the meeting. A link to the meeting will be sent once registration has been completed, according to meeting materials.
