Ashland police prepare to ensure safety at annual Halloween parade 

The Ashland Police Department will be out and ready to ensure a fun and safe annual children’s Halloween parade, according to a department release Wednesday. The parade begins at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Halloween, in front of the Ashland Public Library at 410 Siskiyou Blvd., then proceeds west along East Main Street to the Plaza.

Curtain Call: ‘Turtle tunes’ brings art to life

Curtain Call: Terry Longshore’s “Full Circle: Turtle Wisdom” will bring artist Betty LaDuke’s vibrant “Turtle Wisdom” series to life through the resonant sounds of a gong orchestra on Nov. 8 at ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum. Performers will include Terry Longshore, the SOU Percussion Ensemble and students of Longshore’s SOU Honors College course, Making Music.

‘Empty Bowls’ supper Friday benefits hungry people

Tickets are on sale for Empty Bowls, a traditional Peace House fundraiser that supports free Ashland dinner programs, including Uncle Foods Diner, Food Angels, and Jobs with Justice Peace Meals. The annual supper will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, in Wesley Hall at Ashland’s First United Methodist Church.

Ukraine: A cultural celebration

Local nonprofit Anima Mundi Productions will present a Ukrainian Cultural Fair with treats, artwork and crafts from the local Ukrainian community on Friday, Oct. 25, followed by a concert featuring Ukrainian pianist Nadia Shpachenko on Sunday, Oct. 27 playing works by Chopin and Ukrainian composers, including two world premieres about the war.
