Problem with Pacific Power equipment caused power outage

UPDATE: All power has been restored in south Ashland, the city announced in a post on its website at 1:13 p.m.
Original story: The south end of Ashland is experiencing a power outage, according to an advisory posted before noon Monday on the city of Ashland website. Power is out in the area in and around the triangle bounded by Ashland Street/Highway 66, Interstate 5 and Siskiyou Boulevard, according to the post.
Utility workers are working to resolve the problem, according to the post. Power should be restored by 1:15 p.m., according to an update issued by the city at 12:15 p.m.
Rick Barton, foreman of Ashland’s electrical department, said power should be restored shortly. A couple of insulators in the Pacific Power substation failed Monday, causing the outage. Barton said “something must have gotten across them.”
Three circuits were no longer operational as a result, Pacific Power is “picking up” two of them, while the third will be taken over by a city station on N. Mountain Ave, Barton said. He affirmed power will be restored to the area shortly.
This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
