Diplomatic mission: Ashland High School graduates some 220 seniors

Friday ceremony held at Butler Bandshell in Lithia Park

In front of family, friends, staff and supporters, about 220 Ashland High School seniors turned their tassels on Friday, accepting their diplomas at Butler Bandshell in Lithia Park.

The AHS Class of 2023 was noted for navigating the COVID-19 pandemic as incoming freshmen, but still boasted 12 valedictorians and five salutatorians. Student speakers emphasized determination and motivation that transcended the hardships the class faced and hope for their bright futures.

Slated for demolition in the 1990s with its doors closed in 1986, the Holly Theatre in Medford reopened last Thursday, March 13, with opening ceremonies and a live performance by the Piano Guys to a full house. The revitalization of downtown Medford through the Holly, helped by all the volunteers, donors and people of Ashland’s Jefferson Public Radio, took more than 13 years and $13 million.
