Redecking will also be done on Ashland Street bridge over rail tracks
East Main Street will be closed to traffic where it crosses over Interstate 5 starting Monday, April 10, until work on replacing the bridge deck is done in May, the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has announced.
Drivers can detour on Highway 66/Ashland Street to Tolman Creek Road.
After the contractor on the $3.5 million project, Carter and Company of Salem, has completed work on that bridge, originally built in 1962, it will move on to the bridge where Highway 66/Ashland Street crosses the railroad tracks. That road will remain open while work is performed. Alternating lane closures will be in effect. Work there is expected to wrap up in August.
