‘Crisis at the hospital’: Potential loss of anesthesia services, surgical services at Ashland hospital concerns medical professionals

“We are currently in a position right now, a crisis at the hospital, where we don’t know if we’re going to have anesthesia services in three weeks, which stops all surgeries,” Dr. B. Monte Stewart told councilors Tuesday during the public forum portion of a City Council meeting. Stewart said he is one of more than three dozen people interviewed about the future of the hospital by an Asante consultant.

‘The Spot’ becomes Ashland’s eighth marijuana dispensary

There’s a new spot in town where Ashland residents can find their favorite cannabis products. The Spot Cannabis Collective opened June 11 at 800 North Main St., just north of the Breadboard Restaurant in Ashland, offering a range of cannabis goods, such as flower, edibles, dabs and tinctures. The Spot joins seven other cannabis dispensaries in town.

A fresh start with a classic menu for a prominent downtown corner

The new eatery at the corner of Main Street and Water Street, across from Ashland Plaza, has reclaimed wood countertops, hanging pots of herbs at each corner, a few small Meyer lemon trees, specially made charcuterie boards and the beginnings of vines reaching to climb up the posts. Co-owners Sierra Campbell and Dax Willard are aiming to turn their recently-opened Le Petit Café & Crěperie into an oasis filled with greenery and quality food that will become a hub for the Ashland community.
