It took erection of a couple stories worth of scaffolding and hours of patient combing for bees and finding the queen before a large beehive was fully removed from underneath an eave at The Village Baker on East Main Street in downtown Ashland on Monday.
The Black Sheep Pub & Restaurant on Ashland Plaza will close its bright, red doors on Aug. 18, the same day it holds the last of its popular Celtic jam sessions. The business, which is up for sale for $120,000, has served customers in downtown Ashland since 1991.

Just over two years after a three-alarm fire destroyed their original building in Ashland Plaza, Mountain Provisions has finally reopened their doors, this time in a new spot downtown. After a long struggle with insurance (that’s still going on) and switch of plans, their new location at 357 E. Main St. opened its doors to customers on July 5.
There’s a new spot in town where Ashland residents can find their favorite cannabis products. The Spot Cannabis Collective opened June 11 at 800 North Main St., just north of the Breadboard Restaurant in Ashland, offering a range of cannabis goods, such as flower, edibles, dabs and tinctures. Mt. Ashland Ski Area’s first new chairlift in more than three decades will open this weekend. The Lithia Chair will open at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, giving skiers and snowboarders greater access to easy and intermediate slopes, according to a release issued Tuesday from the nonprofit ski area.
