Alice Di Micele & Force of Nature at Pheasant Fields Farm

Join us for Alice’s last show of the year with her band “Force of Nature” before she goes off on tour through Colorado and the Midwest.

The first thing you ‘ll notice about Alice Di Micele is her voice. With a five-octave range that is intense, sensual, rich and soulful, Di Micele has been known to turn a noisy bar silent within a few notes. Her warm presence and humor disarm and create a rare intimacy between audience and performer.

Whether singing a jazzy-folk number, belting a sassy blues, crooning a hushed ballad, or rocking out on one of her trademark rhythmic earthy grooves, Alice is a vocalist that moves people. A kick-ass guitarist as well, whether playing solo or with a band “Force of Nature” her acoustic guitar conjures percussive poly-rhythms, bass lines, and melodies that perfectly frame her vocals.

Her band “Force of Nature” consists of her long-time drummer Nick Kirby, guitarist Andy Casad, and bassist Matt Spencer. Nick started playing drums at 2 years old with his dad Sonny Boy Kirby and is not only an amazing drummer, but a bassist, singer, and guitarist as well. Andy Casad is an award winning finger style guitarist and his duo The Fret Drifters have toured the US and Australia to rave reviews and wide acclaim. Matt Spencer is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who has been playing locally with artists like Jeff Pevar, Phoenix Sigalove and more since moving here in the last few years.

Bill Thorndike Jr. remembered as community titan, treasured friend

Family, community members and longtime friends of Medford native Bill Thorndike Jr. were collectively at a loss for words over the weekend at the sudden loss of a man they say had a hand in nearly anything good to happen in Southern Oregon for much of the past half-century. Thorndike, 71, suffered a heart attack early Saturday morning, just following a Valentine’s Day spent with his wife, Angela Thorndike, at a family cabin on Whidbey Island in Washington’s Puget Sound.
