Ashland Independent Film Festival “Fall Into Cinema”: Summer of Soul

The Ashland Independent Film Festival will host its final “Fall Into Cinema” outdoor film screening at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum, 1500 E. Main St., Ashland.

Seating opens at 6 p.m., with dancing and music at 6:15 p.m., followed by the screening at 7 p.m.

AIFF will screen “Summer of Soul.” the directorial debut of Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson that is a powerful and transporting music documentary celebrating Black history, culture and fashion.

The event is free to attend, though a donation of $10 is suggested. There will be food trucks, wine, and popcorn, with chairs provided for attendees.

Obituary: Clayton Samuel Gordon Jr. passed away peacefully on Aug. 19 at the age of 101. Clayton Gordon enjoyed volunteering at the downtown information booth together with his wife, Betty. He encouraged visitors to drink from the infamous Lithia water fountain in the Plaza.
