Ashland Sunrise Project presents “Uncovering Difficult Truths”

The Ashland Sunrise Project will hold the third presentation in its ongoing speaker series from 6:30 to 8 pm. Monday, July 8, at Carpenter Hall, 44 S. Pioneer St., Ashland.

Entitled “Uncovering Difficult Truths,” the event is a conversation between Oregon author Sarah L. Sanderson, Oregon Remembrance Founder project Taylor Stewart, and host Tara Houston, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s community and engagement manager.

Sanderson, author of “The Place We Make: Breaking the Legacy of Legalized Hate,” will share her own story of discovering that her ancestors participated in exiling Jacob Vanderpool from Oregon City in 1851 under exclusion laws that prevented Black people from residing in Oregon.
