Ashland’s Lithia Park Fountain: 500 years of History, free talk

Join Peter Finkle for a free Ashland history time-travel adventure at the Ashland Library on Wednesday, July 9 from 12 noon to 1 pm.

With more than 40 photos, learn the incredible 500-year backstory of Ashland’s 1916 Butler-Perozzi Fountain in Lithia Park. Discover how our humble Lithia Park fountain’s tale includes European royalty, a Palazzo in Florence, Italy, an early 1900s Ashland creamery and much more. Part of the Windows in Time History lecture series. The same lecture will be given at the Medford Library on July 2 from 12 noon to 1 pm.

Mt. Ashland pauses operations indefinitely due to low snowpack

Mt. Ashland Ski Area will pause operations indefinitely starting Thursday, Jan. 15, the nonprofit announced Wednesday, citing low snowpack, warm temperatures and no snowfall in the forecast. Officials say refunds will be issued for prepaid tickets, rentals and lessons, while uphill travel will remain open under seasonal rules.
