Learn about the active research and outreach projects that the Klamath Bird Observatory (KBO) does in bird conservation throughout the Pacific Northwest through an emphasis on high-caliber science and the role of birds as indicators to inform and improve natural resource management.
Specifically, we will also learn about KBO’s past and present research and conservation efforts in the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument.
Elva Manquera-DeShields has been with the Klamath Bird Observatory for three years. Her role within the organization is science communications, outreach, and DEIJ Manager. Friends of Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument is a nonprofit organization, and our mission is to support the protection, restoration and conservation of the monument through service, advocacy and education. Our Hike and Learn programs are designed to introduce the public to different topics and locations within the Monument. Hike and Learns are co-created with local scientists, historians, artists, students, and more.
