Braver Angels FREE Depolarizing Within Workshop In-Person

Building Bridgers is partnering with Braver Angels in offering their powerful FREE workshop DEPOLARIZING WITHIN.

We risk fueling the fire that threatens our country by how we talk about people who hold different political views. Want to understand how to talk differently? Why?

Because we need to find a solution to our nation’s big problems; we cannot do that if we see the “other side” as enemies or strangers. There is a lot of stress these days among families and friends who are divided politically.

Process:
Learn what is involved in developing attitudes, words, and using ways to talk with folks on the “other” side with whom we share a national past and future.

Goals:
Discover how to be more aware of your own “inner polarizations”; learn how to be critical without demonizing, dismissing, or stereotyping; understand how to handle political and social conversations with peers when these turn to contempt or ridicule for people with different views. https://braverangels.org/

Interview with Del Shores, playwright of “Daddy’s Dyin’…Who’s Got the Will?”

The production runs through July 6 at Camelot Theatre By Lucie K. Scheuer for Ashland.news You might say that domestic, comedic dramatist and playwright Del Shores’ successful life as a writer for stage, film and TV is the result of a series of crazy mishaps, which led to Shores becoming one of America’s funniest theater writers and strongest advocates for emerging LGBTQ+ writers. His determination and desire to write in spite of seeming setbacks has also contributed to his philosophy:

Viewpoint: A protest is not a rebellion

James Lobsenz: There is a difference between a protest and a rebellion. Hundreds of thousands of people protested the Vietnam War. But the fact that they marched, carried signs, chanted, engaged in sit-ins, and burned their draft cards, does not mean they engaged in a “rebellion” against the United States.
