Building a Broader “We”: Fusing Race and Class | Public Lecture and Q&A with Professor Ian Haney Lopez

The Office for Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion, SOU Campus Theme, and The Oregon Shakespeare Festival present:

Building a Broader “We”: Fusing Race and Class
Public Lecture and Q&A with Ian Haney Lopez

We are now a multi-racial population. But can we become a multi-racial democracy, one that is genuinely racially egalitarian?

In this workshop, Ian Haney López challenges participants to surface and examine their understanding of racism. He reintroduces an older paradigm of racism, one that fuses race and class and one embraced by some of the greatest freedom fighters of our past. Presenting evidence that this paradigm shift resonates deeply with most Americans, Ian illuminates the immediate value in embracing a multi-racial society.
