Celebrating the Siskiyou Crest: A Festival of Art, Culture, and Science

Keynote speaker: David Rains Wallace (July 16)

July 14 — Guided hikes along the Siskiyou Crest by experts in butterflies, birds, fish, etc. Registration required.

July 15 and 16 — Panels on the ecology and recreation of the Siskiyou Crest by leading scientists — Juried art show with arts of all media and presentations of poetry, music, dance, and video.

July 15 — Speakers: Joe Scott, of the Siletz tribe; Michael Kauffmann, Justin Garwood, Luke Ruediger — Music by Windsong

July 16—Panelist, speakers, art show and presentations — Music by Alice Dimicele

Good food—children’s activities—beautiful venue—festival free to the public.

Obituary: Amanda Pyle

Obituary: Amanda Louise (Butler) Pyle, 80, a longtime Rogue Valley resident and elementary school teacher, passed away Sept. 3 at Celia’s Hospice House in Medford. Teaching was not a “job” for Amanda — it was a passion. She is especially remembered for involving students in creative projects and also for giving every one of them a hug as they left her classroom at the end of each school day.
