Electrify Ashland Now meetup

Are you curious about “going 100% electric” in your home? What is it, why do it, and how to plan for it? Or are you already starting to convert your home equipment from “natural” gas (methane) to electric and have some questions? Electrify Ashland Now, a volunteer action team of the Ashland Climate Collaborative (a 501c3 nonprofit) is hosting an informal meetup at the community meeting room at Washington Federal Bank (adjacent to Pony Espresso) to provide an opportunity for small-group, informal discussion and information-sharing about all things related to switching from 100% electric household.

Your hosts will be Lorrie Kaplan, president of the Ashland Climate Collaborative, and energy efficiency expert Ben Scott. Learn more about Electrify Ashland Now! at ElectrifyAshland.org.

Bill Thorndike Jr. remembered as community titan, treasured friend

Family, community members and longtime friends of Medford native Bill Thorndike Jr. were collectively at a loss for words over the weekend at the sudden loss of a man they say had a hand in nearly anything good to happen in Southern Oregon for much of the past half-century. Thorndike, 71, suffered a heart attack early Saturday morning, just following a Valentine’s Day spent with his wife, Angela Thorndike, at a family cabin on Whidbey Island in Washington’s Puget Sound.
