Faculty Recital featuring Terry Longshore “balance I flow”

Dr. Terry Longshore will present a solo percussion recital titled: “balance | flow”.

Fresh off of his sabbatical in Iceland and performance tour at universities across in the Southwest, Terry Longshore will present an intermedia percussion experience.

The performance will include animations and videos by Miles Inada (SOU creative arts faculty), Sean O’Skea (SOU theatre faculty), and compositions by Terry Longshore and his son.

Longshore will also perform Mark Applebaum’s Aphasia (2010, Nick Zammuto’s Green Yellow Green Red (2013), Yaz Lancaster’s As A Treat (2021) Joe W. Moore III’s Cornerstone (2021), Emma O’Halloran’s meditation for metal pipes, Twos and Threes by Erik Griswold, Phong Tran’s Relative Rates of Technological Advancement: a microstudy of macro-macroeconomics for solo percussion, and finally his own original compositions: Kangaroopak Sardha (2015), CoronavVibe Etudes (2020) and Trap Hat (2022).

Urban Rural Action, a national nonprofit, non-partisan organization that strives to bring Americans together across divides to tackle the nation’s most urgent challenges, is looking for 28 volunteer participants from four Southern Oregon Counties — Jackson, Douglas, Josephine and Klamath — to take part in a seven-month project to make a meaningful impact on housing and homelessness in Southern Oregon, all while building relationships and engagement in the community.
