Ashland Fire & Rescue will host an open house event from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 31, at Fire Station No. 1, 455 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland.
Attendees can meet firefighters, take a tour of the station to see the latest equipment and apparatus, learn about volunteer opportunities, and enjoy refreshments and entertainment.
Parking is available downtown, or along Third, Fourth, and Fifth streets in the Railroad District. Walking or biking is encouraged.

Pacific Power has organized a meeting in Talent to discuss power outages that have plagued the city this summer. The meeting is 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11, in the Talent library, 101 Home St. It will include an opportunity to hear from Pacific Power President Ryan Flynn, who will discuss the outages and also explain what is being done to improve the power grid system.
