George Mann folk concert at El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant

Join us for an evening of folk music and community building as we celebrate and raise hell.

Saturday, April 13 at El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant, 1633 OR-99, Ashland. Next door to KSKQ Radio.

6 p.m. dinner/social hour, event from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. or later….

George Mann returns to Oregon fresh off an Australian tour, to share his new record This Chain, a collection of original songs and a few songs written by treasured friends. A former union organizer based in New York, George Mann has produced albums featuring such folk music legends as Pete Seeger, Utah Phillips, and Tom Paxton, and tours of the US and Australia to honor The Almanac Singers (2013) and Joe Hill (2015).

He’s also a walking jukebox of popular folk songs and classics from the past 60 years, singing for seniors and veterans’ homes on both coasts.

George will perform for the crowd, and in between sets, we will host a discussion and announcements on local efforts to make Ashland a kinder and more accountable city.

This is a FREE EVENT but we will pass the hat for donations.

This event also celebrates Independent Media Week in Ashland, a showcase of our local media resources and community of independent media producers, local activists, and community groups.

Review: ‘Witch’ an unsettling story

Review: “Witch,” isn’t exactly a Halloween piece per se, but it is unsettling. And if you like stories that are distinctive, disturbing yet thought-provoking, this might be for you. This is a play where no one is as they seem; where our motives and desires can give rise to good or evil.
