Green Debris Dropoff Day

If you live in Ashland and have yard debris such as leaves, pine needles, brush that you need to get rid off, Ashland Fire & Rescue and Recology Ashland will take them off your hands at an upcoming event.That event, the 12th annual Green Debris Drop Off Day, is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Valley View Transfer Station, 3000 N. Valley View Road, according to a news release. The intent is to create fire-adapted yards before fire season starts by reducing the amount of fuels that can help spread potential wildfires.The event is free for Ashland residents. Accepted materials include leaves, small branches, pine needles, and brush. Bags of debris need to be emptied on site.Prohibited materials include trash, stumps, logs, firewood, and treated lumber.Call 541-552-2231 or email [email protected] for more information.

Woman wounded, man jailed after Monday night shooting in Ashland

A woman’s in the hospital and a man is in jail on charges of attempted murder following a shooting Monday evening in Ashland, according to an Ashland Police Department news release issued Tuesday afternoon. Cory A. Davison, 49, of Ashland is being held without bail at Jackson County Jail on charges of attempted murder in the second degree, domestic violence assault in the second degree, and unlawful use of weapon in connection with an incidence of domestic violence.

Two break-ins damage low-income houses

A rash of break-ins over the past few days resulted in about $5,000 damage at two Ashland low-income houses under construction by Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity. No suspects have been arrested.  Food and drinks for volunteers who were building the house near North Mountain Avenue in the Beach Creek subdivision were eaten.
