Guanajuato Nights 2023: “The Marvelous Mines of Guanajuato”

December 2 @ 6:00 pm

We are excited to announce our Annual Scholarship Fundraiser for 2023 benefiting Southern Oregon University. Guanajuato Nights is BACK!

Please join us for an incredible evening as we celebrate the friendships, culture, food, and experiences of our 54-year sister-city relationship with Guanajuato. We will once again host this event at Stevenson Union at SOU.

This year’s theme is: The Marvelous Mines of Guanajuato “Las Maravillosas Minas de Guanajuato.”

The rich heritage of the silver mines in GTO has endured for centuries and still exists today. The mining industry is steeped in the culture and traditions of those who call Guanajuato home.

This year will feature the food and music that has been influenced by the mining traditions of our beautiful Sister City.

We will also be introducing a very exciting “Chance Auction” format, which allows everyone to help raise funds in a relaxed and fun environment. Please celebrate with us and create scholarship opportunities for the students of Southern Oregon University and The Universidad de Guanajuato.

Exploding gummy bears, self-carving pumpkins, elephant toothpaste and plumes of fire from erupting chemical reactions, oh my! Students and members of the public filed into the Science Auditorium on Friday afternoon — not for a lecture, but for the annual “Fall into Chemistry” live demonstration at Southern Oregon University.
