January Contra Dance

Contradancing is fun, easy to learn and great exercise. There’s a lesson at 7 p.m. to get you started

NO EXPERIENCE OR PARTNER NECESSARY (gender free)

Saturday, January 20 — 7 p.m. lesson

Dance 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. with break/snacks

Sliding scale $12 – $20 ($8 for college students with ID); free for high school age & younger

Held at The Grove, 1195 E. Main St. No 2271, Ashland

Obituary: Amanda Pyle

Obituary: Amanda Louise (Butler) Pyle, 80, a longtime Rogue Valley resident and elementary school teacher, passed away Sept. 3 at Celia’s Hospice House in Medford. Teaching was not a “job” for Amanda — it was a passion. She is especially remembered for involving students in creative projects and also for giving every one of them a hug as they left her classroom at the end of each school day.
