Keely and Du

March 25, 2023 @ 8:00 pm

Event Series Event Series (See All)
$20.00

Ashland Contemporary Theatre in collaboration with Livia Genise Productions presents “Keely and Du” directed by Livia Genise.

This runner-up for the 1994 Pulitzer Prize explores the relationship of Keely, a pregnant rape victim and Du, a right-to-life zealot who Du is confining. Playwright Jane Martin poses the thorny question, that despite the human need for connection, is love really possible, even a mother’s, when its origin is involuntary? After all, whose choice is it anyway? There is some described violence in this staged reading, so audience discretion is advised.

Featuring Alayha McNamara as Keely and Jeannine Grizzard as Du, with John Lambie, Dan Olson, and Cynthia Tank. Held March 17-24 at Grizzly Peak Winery and March 25 and 26 at Bellview Grange. Tickets are $20. Visit ashlandcontemporarytheatre.org.
