In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s First Folio, learn how to make a Commedia dell’arte mask.
These masks depict the different characters of Commedia dell’arte, a comedic theatre style that originated in Italy in the 1530s and was popular across Europe during the Renaissance. We’ll discuss the roles of each character and how they were depicted through the masks. Supplies will be provided for participants to make their very own Commedia mask to take home.
