Meet Ashland officials over a cup of coffee

Ashland residents who have ever wanted to meet their city manager and various city council members will soon be able to do so over a cup of coffee.

The first informal “Coffee & Conversations” event will be held 8:30 to 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, at Pony Espresso, 175 Lithia Way, Ashland, according to a news release. Two additional events follow during the same time frame:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Rogue Valley Roasting Company, 917 E. Main St, Ashland
  • Tuesday, Nov. 14, at Case Coffee, 1255 Siskiyou Blvd., Ashland

“The conversations will be casual and there will not be an agenda,” the release said. “The City looks forward to connecting with you, because in Ashland, we are better together.”

Obituary: John Fisher-Smith

Obituary: During he early 2000s, John Fisher-Smith read short commentaries on JPR’s “Jefferson Daily” about place and value, called “Reflections.” He loved singing with the Peace Choir, and the group’s pilgrimage to Hiroshima, Japan, in 2006 was one of the highlights of his elderhood. A celebration of John’s life will take place at Temple Emek Shalom on April 6, welcoming all who wish to join at 1:45 p.m.
