Join us for a talk from Lucretia Weems, author of “This Wild Life: Heroines in the History of Botany, 1650-1850.”
These are the forgotten stories of a remarkable group of European women. They made tremendous contributions to the world of plants and plant exploration, overcoming the gender bias and marginalization of their time. Some traveled to India, some to South America and Africa, collecting plants unknown beyond their native habitats. Each was a true heroine: brave, talented and deeply adventurous.
Please join us to hear more about the fascinating tales of the Heroines in the History of Botany. Copies of “This Wild Life” will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
