Monster Ball in memory of Sarah Wood

ScienceWorks Hands-On Museum will hold a Monster Ball event, with family-friendly activities held 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at 1500 E. Main St., Ashland.

An “RIP After Dark” party will follow from 9 p.m. to midnight. Tickets cost $10 when paying ahead or $20 at the door. A $25 ticket option includes the RIP After Dark event.

Marvel at the monster carnival of aerial artists and stilt-walkers at the museum entrance. Brave the Monster Bounce House and Monster Catapult. Inside, attendees will find the Wizard’s Great Hall and a potion mixery hosted by Treehouse Books. Adult potions and tantalizing treats will be available at Lark’s Spooky Saloon no-host bar.

Dance to the terrorizing tunes of DJ Veach in the Ghoulish Graveyard. Try fiendish hands-on experiments with ScienceWorks mad scientist staff in Frankenstein’s Lab.

Watch vintage Halloween shorts and scary moves in the Sinister Cinema. Make a paper flower and light a candle at the Ancestors Portal, in memory of Sarah Wood. Visit the oracle in the Fortuneteller Forest to divine your future or to find your animal familiar.

Enter our creepy costume contest and raffle to win spooktacular prizes.

Money raised from the event will fund ScienceWorks educational programs.

Ashland’s hiatus of dry days ends with five straight days with rain showers in the forecast, according to a National Weather Service forecast as of Wednesday evening. Showers are expected during the day Thursday and Friday, in the evening Saturday, night and day Sunday and during Monday’s Presidents Day holiday day.
