Mythic Acts: Power Moves for Personal Transformation by Sophia Blanton

The telling and enacting of Myth is one of the oldest forms of group therapy.
Ancient peoples gathered to immerse in mythic narratives and themes that mirror the journeys and dramas of the human psyche, finding in them inspirational templates for personal growth. This workshop with Sophia Blanton presents the mythic Birth of Athena, Greek Goddess of Wisdom in a weaving of myth-telling, movement and ceremony.
We will read between the lines of the story to examine how the Greeks converted the energies of earlier mythologies. We will align with key mythic themes from the Birth of Athena and learn to enact them through Sophia’s lifework in Ritual Embodiment and “Prayerformance.” Be prepared to listen, question, move and transform!
Sophia Blanton works at the intersection of Myth, Movement and Magic. She renders key mythic themes of the collective psyche into ceremonies, sacred dramas and ritual movement practice. From Delphi to Giza to Avalon, Sophia has inspired communities to tap into the deep well of sacred-soul wisdom bubbling up through the timeless stories that shape our cultures. Her work brings the healing power of the myth into the here and now through the movement of the body.
