“Plot Twist: Improvised!” is a performance where the story is in the hands of the audience and a spin of the wheel.
The audience chooses where the story begins and the improvisers spin it into a completely unscripted tale. But just when things seem to settle into place… we give the wheel of fate a whirl! An audience member will spin an actual wheel to determine a genre (out of five possibilities: noir, rom com, murder mystery, sci fi, or soap opera) that sets the tone for the rest of the story. The plot will spontaneously twist into one of the five genres selected as the players continue the story. The format was created by the co-artistic director of BATS Improv, Karen Brelsford, and performed for the first time on their stage in San Francisco earlier this year. This is an improv adventure, where the story evolves in ways no one (including the improvisers) can predict.
A culmination of an improvised genre workshop, the shows will feature the spontaneous talents of Crystal Arnold, Cody Christopherson, Emmy Graham, Daniel Jokelson, Andrew Kramer, Claudia Stevens, Libby Sturgill, and Rochelle Webster. Directed by Eve Smyth.
The audience can expect two, 40-minute shows with two different plot twists, with a short intermission in between.
