Rakish, among America’s top Celtic/Americana folk duos, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday July 29 in an intimate house concert in Ashland, Oregon.
Rakish is fiddler/vocalist Maura Shawn Scanlin and guitarist Conor Hearn, both Boston-based musicians. As players, the two have played, studied, and bathed in folk music since childhood. As a result, their shows demonstrate an uncommonly deep understanding of Scottish, Irish, and American folk traditions.
The two, as David Templeton wrote in Strings Magazine, are “naturally nimble and stylistically well-matched, (and have) a genuinely infectious sense of delight, heart, and jubilation.”
Rakish released its first album, Counting Down The Hours, in 2022, available on all platforms. The band will be playing cuts from it along with others from their forthcoming album, Now, O Now, due later this year.
Tickets for the two-set show are $20. RSVP to [email protected] for address.
