On the heels of its wildly successful holiday concerts, the Rogue Valley Symphony will explore the roots of classical music in its Masterworks No. 4 concert, with performances set for 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Southern Oregon University Music Recital Hall, 450 S. Mountain Ave., Ashland; 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20 at the Craterian Theater, 23 S. Central Ave., Medford; and 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Grants Pas Performing Arts Center, 313 NE Olive St., Grants Pass.
From chaos to the formation of the world, the symphony will explore the genesis of classical music with the versatile virtuoso pianist Anne-Marie McDermott, who also performed in the Rogue Valley in 2017.
Masterworks No. 4 will feature composer in residence David Ludwig’s “Pangaea,” with early works by Franz-Joseph Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven.
