Local outdoor nonprofit the Siskiyou Mountain Club will hold the grand opening of an outdoor store whose proceeds are intended to fund regional trail maintenance from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at 33 N. Third St., Ashland, according to a news release.
Following the grand opening, the establishment, called the Siskiyou Outdoor Store, will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, the release said. All proceeds from store purchases will go toward maintenance on more than 400 miles of trails in northwest California and southwest Oregon, which the Siskiyou Mountain Club manages.
“Foremost, we aim to be a community store,” Siskiyou Mountain Club director Gabriel Howe said.
The store will have an “active community calendar,” with signups for day hikes, overnight trips and clinics such as the Backpacker’s Academy. A variety of outdoor products will be available for purchase, including, fuel, backpacking stoves and cookware, tents, sleeping pads and sleeping bags, freeze-dried meals, compasses, lighting equipment and more.
Club members, students, and teachers will receive a 5% discount on purchases.
