SOU Students present “Stanza to Stage” bringing poetry to life at OSF Green Show

Join us for a FREE OSF Green Show Performance featuring Stanza to Stage on Saturday, July 20th at 6:45pm on the OSF Green Show Stage “On the Bricks” at 15 S. Pioneer Street in Ashland.

Stanza to Stage is fun and bold physical theater through the lens of the poetic word. Fourteen students. One company. Poetry in motion as they bring to its feet the work of Joy Harjo, Shel Silverstein, Mary Oliver and others in a physical and fun 40-minute performance. Performed by students of the Southern Oregon University Theater Department and directed by Barret O’Brien.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR: Barret O’Brien is an actor and author from New Orleans. Committed to creating work that is gentle on Earth’s natural resources, O’Brien has staged plays internationally in such unconventional locales as abandoned bars, off-grid farms, and after-hours soup kitchens. He is also the founder of Finding Our Tales, national storytelling workshops that embolden youth to share their voices through the tools of theatre. O’Brien has wagged Tales at City University of NY, Southern Rep, Yale University, New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts, Seasons Bereavement Programs, Creative Connections, Camp Make·a·Dream, Beargrass Retreat, The Siskiyou School, and Southern Oregon University (among other locales).
