Using Google for Genealogy

Google should be an important tool in any genealogist’s tool box. The Google search engine has come a long way in the over 20 years its been around; are you maximizing your Google searches for your ancestors?

Instructor Rich Miles will teach you tips and tricks to get the most out your Google searches. Rich Miles is a retired educator. He has 33 years of education experience as a teacher, university instructor, principal, and administrator. Rich has done genealogy work for about 14 years with an emphasis on technology. He currently serves as the Technology & Data Management Director and webmaster for the Rogue Valley Genealogical Society, and regularly teaches classes.

This class will be at the RVGS Library and also via ZOOM.

Cost: $10 for RVGS Members, $20 for Non-members; registration closes at noon Thursday, Feb. 15.

This class will be recorded and available for viewing for 30 days for those who registered.

Women’s basketball: SOU wins, advances to Sioux City

With a 78-51 win Saturday, the No. 2-seeded Southern Oregon University Raiders women’s basketball team went to 33-0 on the year, matching the program’s single-season wins record and advancing to the final site in Sioux City, Iowa, for the first time since the NAIA’s two divisions merged and the bracket expanded to 64 teams three years ago.

For the fourth year in a row, the Southern Oregon women’s basketball team is through to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament. In Friday night’s 86-52 first-round win over UC Merced at Lithia Motors Pavilion, the Raiders made it look routine. The task gets taller, literally and figuratively, in Saturday’s 5 p.m. second-round matchup against No. 7 seed Wayland Baptist (Texas).
