Vajrayana for Our Times (Part 2): A Hybrid Teaching with devon + nico hase

For many householders in the West, Vajrayana practices can feel out of reach. While we may love the values and the deep potential of the tradition, it can be difficult to weave the meditations into our own everyday perceptions and experiences.

How do we make these practices our own while fully respecting the blessings of the lineage?

When we came together around this topic last June, we explored the role of intention, the power of the fruitional view, and how to “find your juice.” This time we’re going to lean into themes like fundamental well-being, the power of sacred outlook, and the dynamic tension between faith and not-knowing.

Again, we’ll lean into our own experience of nearly three decades of dharma practice and the three-year retreat we experienced under the guidance of Lama Drubgyu and Mingyur Rinpoche, completed in the summer of 2023.

We look forward to practicing with you, as we find out together how depth practice can continue to thrive in these times.

A selection of soups, salads, and bread will be available in the lobby during the noon break, with tables set up so that we can eat together. Come nourish yourself, stay warm, and relax in the company of other participants. This lunch is both a fundraiser for KSC and an opportunity to enjoy casual interaction with the sangha. A donation of $15 is suggested, but no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

About the teachers:
devon + nico hase completed the three-year Shangpa retreat cycle last year, under the guidance of Lama Drubgyu Tenzin and Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche. They have spent years in retreat in the Insight, Zen, and Vajrayana traditions. They teach online and in-person, mentor meditation teachers, lead retreats at Insight Meditation Society, Spirit Rock and other centers, and work one-on-one with long-term students. Immigrants in Oregon could be significantly impacted by Trump’s second term

Oregon is preparing for what could be sweeping changes to its immigration landscape with President Donald Trump back in office. The state is home to about 120,000 undocumented immigrants. There are also tens of thousands more people living in Oregon under other designations, including those fleeing violence and persecution, workers who are here on the H-1B visa, or international students enrolled in Oregon universities. The state also has one of the broadest sanctuary laws in the U.S.
