Downtown traffic disrupted while firefighters investigate

By Morgan Rothborne, Ashland.news

Those driving through downtown Ashland Thursday afternoon may have encountered a traffic disruption at the corner of East Main and North Pioneer streets when first responders closed off some traffic lanes while they investigated what was initially reported as a structure fire.

Turns out, “it wasn’t a fire, just an electrical problem. Took us a little bit to find it,” Ashland Fire & Rescue Battalion Chief Lance Menold said.

Closing off some of the traffic flow was a decision made to assist first responders as they worked to locate the problem, he said.

An incident was reported in the app Pulsepoint at 101 E. Main Street, Ashland, the address of  Three Penny Mercantile, at 1:35 p.m.

According to the app, seven units were assigned and the scene was cleared at 3:50 p.m.
