Letter: A thank-you from Ann Gaffney

May 21, 2025

To my friends and neighbors: While the results of the May special election did not land in my favor, I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who supported my candidacy for Ashland School Board Position 1. Whether you donated time, resources, encouragement, or simply cast your vote in belief of our shared vision — thank you.

Running for this seat was never about politics — it was about kids. It was about ensuring our students, educators and families have the opportunities and support they deserve. That work doesn’t end with an election. I remain committed to the values we lifted up during this campaign: innovative educational opportunities, strong community partnerships and a transparent, student-centered approach to budget and policy decisions.

There are many ways to serve our schools and students, and I look forward to continuing to contribute wherever I can be helpful. Whether through mentorship, advocacy or collaboration, I remain deeply invested in the success of the Ashland School District and the well-being of every student it serves.

Congratulations to Jordan Rooklyn on the outcome of the election. I wish her success in her role, and hope our shared love for this community can be a foundation for future collaboration.

Thank you again for your belief in me, and more importantly, for your belief in our schools. Let’s keep working together to build a future our children can be proud of.

Ann M. Gaffney
