I have read the recent news article pertaining to the 12 medical technologists who were involved in a layoff at Asante.
I was an employee there as a medical technologist for nearly 25 years; I have since retired. There has been, and currently is, a severe shortage of lab techs across the nation. In the past, Asante has utilized traveling techs to fill employment gaps. If money is an issue, traveling techs, just like traveling nurses, are paid exorbitant salaries. Think about that!
I feel it is foolish to dismiss those who demonstrate longevity, experience and loyalty to the job. All for the almighty dollar! Good luck with finding replacements for these folks.
