Letter: ‘Compliment consciousness’

March 18, 2022

Remember how good it feels when someone praises you?

It’s a shot of adrenaline. Something you said, or did, caught their attention. We all thrive with positive recognition.

I’m proposing we consider becoming more “compliment conscious.” By that, I mean to keep my eyes, ears and heart open to noticing the big and small words and acts that people do. When you notice their action, compliment them.

Never mind their saying,”It was nothing.” It is something. Say, “I noticed you —————.”

Saying so was a kind thing to do. You helped make their day.

Acknowledge that you are a caring person. I thank you for being who you are. Let us all spread kindness, and become aware of the joy we can bring to others with a sincere compliment.

The Dalai Lama said “my religion is kindness.”
