One comment about this year’s two outdoor plays at Oregon Shakespeare Festival is that the music is too loud, so loud one must be a Shakespearian scholar to have understood the lines in “The Tempest,” for example — it’s especially too loud with hearing aids.
I have enjoyed Shakespeare’s plays and those of his contemporaries over the years, but do like many of the modern plays — those by and about August Wilson, the struggles of South Africa, even the Marx Brothers.
Important to keep a good mix.
