Letter: ‘The music is too loud’

September 5, 2022

One comment about this year’s two outdoor plays at Oregon Shakespeare Festival is that the music is too loud, so loud one must be a Shakespearian scholar to have understood the lines in “The Tempest,” for example — it’s especially too loud with hearing aids.

I have enjoyed Shakespeare’s plays and those of his contemporaries over the years, but do like many of the modern plays — those by and about August Wilson, the struggles of South Africa, even the Marx Brothers.

Important to keep a good mix.
