In the recent local election, almost two-thirds of Ashland citizens said — loud and clear — that we want a functioning city government led by a mayor and council able to work well with other each other, citizens, and staff.
We want city services maintained, if not enhanced, and are willing to pay for and support that. We do not want Ashland Citizens for Economic Sustainability (ACES)-driven budget-cutting to be the sine qua non.
And we want to protect our beloved parks from a mayor/city council members who have driven away key staff and applicants for vacant positions and let some city operations founder.
I applaud the winning City Council members and their devotion to our town.
May they be successful.
