The ex-president was found guilty of 34 felonies by the unanimous decision of 12 of his peers.
He has not handled the outcome of this trial very well.
During the course of the trial, which he called “a travesty of justice,” Donald Trump blamed the charges and the outcome on the judge, the New Yorkers who comprised the jury, the Democratic Party for plotting against him, “crooked” Joe Biden, the Department of Justice, his political enemies who had initiated another “witch hunt,” just like the other witch hunts that brought about his two impeachment trials, and the “trumped up” criminal charges he still must face in three upcoming trials.
He expects us to believe that for all 91 felony charges, he’s innocent of blame. Really?
The former president blames everyone but himself. But that’s an easy out. Many people tend to blame everyone but themselves or make excuses for their mistakes.
A sportsman like Yogi Berra would say such a person lacks character. It’s good to recall here what Yogi said about his friend Mickey Mantle: “He never blamed anybody or anything. Always was respectful of his teammates, his manager.… His knees were shot but he never complained or made excuses.” (“You Can Observe a Lot by Watching,” Page 37). Now that’s character.
Apparently the ex-president has never heard the sports adage every Little Leaguer has heard from his coach: Be humble in victory, gracious in defeat. That’s a lesson the former president has yet to learn.
