Obituary: Ingrid Boldt

Ingrid Boldt
November 14, 2023

Aug. 15, 1933 — Oct. 31, 2023

Ingrid Boldt, 90, of Ashland, peacefully passed away on Oct.31, 2023.

Ingrid was born on Aug. 15, 1933, to Wilhelm and Hertha in Delmenhorst, Germany.

To sum up Ingrid’s life in a few paragraphs is an almost impossible task.

She was always passionate about travel, notably as a child always looking out of windows to lands beyond. She emigrated to Montreal, Canada, in the 1950s. Ingrid was working for Lufthansa German Airlines when she met and married Hans Boldt. They went on to have one child, Stephanie. In 1972, the Boldt family was sponsored to come to the United States and lived in Beverly Hills for some years until their migration to Oregon. Although Hans and Ingrid parted ways in 1988, they remained friends.

Ingrid had many careers including real estate agent and travel agent eventually going on to owning her own successful business, Lithia Travel, in Ashland. Her hobbies included the arts; she loved music (Tina Turner was her favorite), she made beautiful stained-glass sculptures and was in a sewing club.

Ingrid also had an incredible love for animals and had a special relationship with her daughter Stephanie’s Weimaraner, Bogie. She continued to travel with her daughter who worked for United Airlines. Even upon late retirement age, Ingrid wasn’t ready to quit working and continued Lithia Travel out of her home. She also was a senior volunteer for the Ashland Police Department.

Ingrid was a force of nature. She’ll be unbelievably missed.

Ingrid is survived by her daughter Stephanie (Karl), her sister, Etta and her extended family in both Germany and Australia.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to SAGE Compassion for Animals fund (see sagec4a.org for donations details) as this not-for-profit organization was important to her. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Ashland Cemetery.

Mom, you will always be in our hearts and we will never forget you. We love you so much.

Rest in peace.
