Jan. 16, 1937 — Sept. 3, 2024

Pierre Andre Fournier died Sept. 3.

He was born Jan. 16, 1937, in Quebec, Canada, and grew up in Quebec with three brothers and five sisters.

He met his lovely bride, Madeleine Emma Pilon, in Montreal. Within the next five years their family expanded to include a son, Daniel, and a daughter, Josee. Josee Fournier is a longtime Ashland resident, and Pierre was a frequent visitor to see his family and friends in Ashland.

As a boy Pierre had dreamed of a life in a warmer climate, so the adventures of Pierre and Madeleine took the couple to Southern California to seek the American Dream.

Pierre was an electrician by trade but could do just about anything. He believed in hard work and never giving up.

After becoming a widower in 1995, he started a new chapter to his life in Grass Valley, California. In retirement, Pierre built his house and found joy in local dancing, tennis and pickleball daily.

He became Papa to seven grandchildren and Great Papa to three. Pierre was known for his wild sense of humor and incredible tenacity.

He was blessed to find love a second time and enjoyed a 28-year partnership with Darlene Moreton (Jan. 31, 1940 to Nov. 19, 2023). The two traveled the world together and made friends everywhere they went.

Pierre had a great appetite for life. Bon appetit, Pierre.
