A New Mexico man was hit and killed by a minivan outside Ashland on Saturday night, according to a release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office issued Sunday afternoon.

The incident was reported at about 9:35 p.m. and took place in the 500 block of South Valley View Road, the sheriff’s office said. The victim, 50-year-old Mark David Langille, was taken to a local hospital and died.

The van’s driver has been taken into custody, and the Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident, the release said.

Investigators obtained a search warrant to perform a blood draw on the suspect, whose vehicle was still on scene when emergency personnel arrived, the release said.

If charges are filed, the suspect’s name will be made public, the release said.

The incident address is on the south side of Exit 19, between the interchange and Highway 99.
