PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Notice is hereby given that on July 22, 2025, the Ashland Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m. at the Ashland Civic Center, 1175 East Main Street for the following items:

SUBJECT PROPERTY:                      Fern Street Public Right-of-Way north of 648 Roca Street

OWNER / APPLICANT:                    City of Ashland/Public Works Department

DESCRIPTION:                                      The Planning Commission will consider a request to vacate a portion of the Fern Street right-of-way just north of 648 Roca Street and make a recommendation to the City Council. COMPREHENSIVE PLAN DESIGNATION: Southern Oregon University; ZONING: SO; MAP & TAX LOT: Public Right of Way

The public hearing will be televised on local channel 9 or channels 180 and 181 for Charter Communications customers or will also be available live stream by going to rvtv.sou.edu  and selecting RVTV Prime. The meeting agenda and information about how to testify and submit written comments will be posted on the City of Ashland web site here: https://ashlandor.portal.civicclerk.com/event/479/files

Those wishing to submit written comments can do so by sending an e-mail to [email protected] with the subject line “July 22, 2025 Hearing Testimony” by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.  Written testimony received by this deadline will be available for Planning Commissioners to review before the hearing and will be included in the meeting minutes.

Oral testimony will also be taken during the electronic public hearing via Zoom as well. If you wish to provide oral testimony during the hybrid meeting, please send an email to [email protected]  by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.  Please provide the following information: 1) make the subject line of the email “July 22 Speaker Request”, 2) include your name, 3) the agenda item on which you wish to speak, 4) specify if you will be participating by computer or telephone, and 5) the name you will use if participating by computer or the telephone number you will use if participating by telephone.  The Zoom meeting link will be posted on the Planning Commission agenda available on-line prior to the meeting at: https://zoom.us/j/97038589791

Ashland CERT volunteers train on fire extinguisher use at monthly session

About 25 Ashland Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers gathered for their monthly training session Wednesday at Fire Station 2 to learn the basics of fire extinguisher use. The training was held as part of CERT’s ongoing preparedness program, which focuses on giving volunteers practical tools to provide safe assistance during emergencies until better equipped responders arrive.
