Public Notice: NOTICE OF BUDGET COMMITTEE MEETING

April 23, 2025

A public meeting of the City of Ashland Budget Committee, Jackson County, State of Oregon, to discuss the budget for the biennium July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2027, will be held at the City of Ashland Council Chambers, 1175 E. Main Street, Ashland, OR 97520. The meeting can be watched on Charter Cable Channel 180. The meeting can also be streamed via the internet by going to rvtv.sou.edu and selecting RVTV Prime. The meeting will take place on May 14, 2025, at 3:00 p.m.

The purpose of the meeting is for the Budget Committee to receive the budget message, receive comment from the public on the budget and to hear presentations on the proposed budget including the proposed tax rate. The Budget Committee is a fiscal advisory group to the Council.  Oregon budget law establishes the Budget Committee and its functions beginning with ORS 294.414.

This is a public meeting where deliberation of the Budget Committee will take place.  Any person may appear at the meeting and discuss the proposed programs with the Budget Committee. If you wish to provide this testimony electronically, please send an email to [email protected] hland.or.us by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 14, 2025, with the subject “5/14/25– Virtual Testimony Request.” Please also include the following: Your full name, email address and if you are an Ashland resident or not. Once this information has been received instructions will be sent to you.

Written testimony will also be accepted for this meeting’s agenda items via email to [email protected] with the subject line 5/14/25 – Written Testimony. Written testimony received by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday May 14, 2025, will be available to the Budget Committee before the meeting and will be included in the meeting minutes. 

Once scheduled budget presentations have concluded, a public hearing will be held giving citizens another opportunity to discuss proposed programs and funding.

A copy of the proposed budget document will be available for review on the City’s website ashlandoregon.gov no later than April 30, 2025.

Big project draws big crowd — Ashland Mill open house well-attended

Ashland School District plans to ‘jog’ toward major changes

While emphasizing that no school closures are being proposed, district Superintendent Joseph Hattrick outlined an approach to the plan that focuses on data analysis, public input, and long-term planning. Obituary: Judith ‘Judy’ Ellen Greifer Benjamin

Obituary: Longtime Ashland resident Judith “Judy” Ellen Greifer Benjamin passed away on Jan. 14, 2024. She was 91. A former president of the local League of Women Voters, Judy lived a life “filled with curiosity, creativity, and global adventure.” A graveside internment of ashes and memorial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 15, at the Jacksonville Cemetery.
