Notice is hereby given that on September 10, the Ashland Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m. at the Ashland Civic Center, 1175 East Main Street for the following items:

SUBJECT PROPERTY:                      2308 Ashland Street

DESCRIPTION:                                    A request for concurrent Outline and Final Plan approval of four-lot, Performance Standards Option (PSO) subdivision. The proposal includes three proposed residential lots and a common area lot. The application includes a request for an exception to street standards to not install park row and to retain the existing frontage improvements. The application also includes a request to remove a total of seventeen trees, five of which are ā€˜significantā€™. The public hearing will be televised on local channel 9 or channels 180 and 181 for Charter Communications customers or will also be available live stream by going to rvtv.sou.edu  and selecting RVTV Prime. The meeting agenda and information about how to testify and submit written comments will be posted on the City of Ashland web site here https://ashlandor.portal.civicclerk.com/event/206/files

Those wishing to submit written comments can do so by sending an e-mail to PC-public-testimony@ashlandoregon.gov with the subject line ā€œSeptember 10, 2024 Hearing Testimonyā€ by 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 10, 2024.  Written testimony received by this deadline will be available for Planning Commissioners to review before the hearing and will be included in the meeting minutes.

Oral testimony will also be taken during the electronic public hearing via Zoom as well. More than one hundred people crowded into the warehouse-sized studio of muralist John Pugh on Helman Street on Friday night to see Pugh’s vision for a mural that will adorn the Ashland Elks Lodge at 255 E. Obituary: Amanda Pyle

Obituary: Amanda Louise (Butler) Pyle, 80, a longtime Rogue Valley resident and elementary school teacher, passed away Sept. 3 at Celiaā€™s Hospice House in Medford. Teaching was not a ā€œjobā€ for Amanda ā€” it was a passion. She is especially remembered for involving students in creative projects and also for giving every one of them a hug as they left her classroom at the end of each school day.

After five years of display and many weeks of discussion, a decision was made to take down a pride banner at Ashland Public Library, the library's management decided on a split vote at a meeting Aug. 21, a followup to an earlier meeting on July 29.
