The internationally recognized chamber music ensemble the American Brass Quintet (ABQ), visited Ashland last week, giving a master class at the South Medford High School on Friday afternoon, and performing holiday music for all Ashland from The Brickroom’s outdoor balcony on Friday night. In their concert on Saturday night at SOU’s packed Recital Hall, they played pieces by Mase, Esmail, Higgiins, Barfield, Sampson. and Biedenbender. Following the concert, all present were invited to celebrate Ashland’s Chamber Music Concerts’ 40th anniversary with cake, cheeses, and prosecco. The ABQ has served as an Ensemble-in-Residence at The Juilliard School of Music in New York City since 1987.
